The Next Leap in AI: GPT-4 Turbo and Google’s Gemini Usher in a New Era
The world of generative pre-trained transformers (GPTs) is witnessing groundbreaking developments that are setting new standards in AI technology. Two major advancements are capturing the spotlight: OpenAI's release of GPT-4 Turbo and Google’s introduction of Gemini.
OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo: A Game-Changer OpenAI recently announced the launch of GPT-4 Turbo, a more capable and cost-effective version of its predecessor. GPT-4 Turbo boasts a massive 128K context window, enabling it to process the equivalent of over 300 pages of text in a single prompt. This innovation is not only more capable but also more affordable, with a 3x cheaper price for input tokens and a 2x cheaper price for output tokens compared to GPT-4 (source).
Google’s Answer to ChatGPT: Gemini Google has officially introduced Gemini, its most advanced large language model to date. Gemini is a multimodal AI, adept at understanding and reasoning across various inputs, from complex coding requests to physics problems. It comes in three sizes: Nano, Pro, and Ultra, with the Pro version enhancing Google's chatbot, Bard (source).
OpenAI’s Assistants API and New Features OpenAI's DevDay revealed the new Assistants API, aimed at helping developers build AI apps with specific instructions and capabilities. This API is flexible, supporting a range of applications from coding assistants to AI-powered planners (source).
Text-to-Speech and Custom Models Developers can now utilize OpenAI’s text-to-speech API to generate human-quality speech, offering six preset voices and two model variants. OpenAI is also introducing a Custom Models program, allowing organizations to work with OpenAI researchers to train custom GPT-4 models for specific domains (source).
The advancements in GPT technology by OpenAI and Google mark a significant step forward in AI capabilities. As these models become more sophisticated and accessible, they promise to redefine how we interact with and leverage AI in various industries.
